Move your body. Feel Amazing.
Eat “feel good” foods.
What do you believe? What thoughts come up when you think about your body?
Body positive means accepting where you are right now, every curve and the bony parts too. Acceptance doesn’t mean giving up, it means loving your body so much that you want to take care of it as best you can. Motivating yourself with positive thoughts instead of beating yourself up will help you to stick with it and actually want to live a healthier lifestyle.
Set the right goals
Losing weight doesn’t sound motivating to a lot of people these days, because the goal is exhausted and no longer means anything. Consider something that is more motivating and related to the process of getting to where you want to be. This may look like:
- practicing eating healthy portion sizes for dinner this week
- learning a new sport
- walking with a friend once a week
- biking with the kids on the weekends
- trying a new healthy dish when you go out to eat
Add gratitude to your day to make sure you find your inner peace and contentment. This is more of a challenge these days, now that we have social media turning on the comparison monster all day long, but here are some ideas to help you stay positive:
- Before bed, think about the best thing that happened that day.
- In the morning, on the way to the shower, be grateful for clean, warm water.
- Write down a list of all the people who you are grateful to have in your life.
- Write a list of all your body parts that you truly do love (go on, you can think of something… your hair, your sparkling eyes, your cheeky smile?).
- Write a list of all the things that your body can do well.
Create your support team! People bring you forward or hold you back. Surround yourself with healthy-ish people and let them inspire you. Do activities together. It doesn’t mean to drop all your “unhealthy friends.” It does mean start spending time with others who can influence you a bit more positively.

One Simple Change
Take the time to eat a different breakfast every day for a week, and:
Take note of how you feel immediately after the meal. Observe how you feel again 2 hours later. Examples of how you might feel are: energized, light, clear-headed, hungry but still focused, or sluggish, bloated, brain-foggy.
